Ice Energy manufactures an efficient, affordable, off-the-shelf Distributed Energy Storage module that saves money and reduces peak demand on the grid. The Ice Bear offsets the need for new peak power plants and transmission and virtually eliminates on-peak air conditioning electric demand by shifting energy consumption to lower priced off-peak hours. Our patented technology reduces the cooling portion of demand based electric bills by as much as 90% without requiring changes to behavior, obtaining environmental emissions permits, or installing new utility interconnections. In many applications, overall energy usage may be reduced, satisfying environmentally concerned commercial and residential consumers. Ice Energy customers use electricity off-peak, when electric demand and energy prices are low, to make ice using their HVAC's compressor, and release that stored energy to provide reliable air conditioning during the day. The Ice Bear is the first product to complement the high volume unitary (central or packaged) air conditioning market. Prototypes were benchmarked by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and field tested by the Electric Power Research Institute and National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, under a grant by the US Department of Energy, Office of Innovations and Technology. Ice Energy is planning for volume manufacturing in the Q3 '04.

Airlift Services International was originally founded in 1997 with the direct purpose of developing a new, economically feasible solution to oil production in stripper oil wells. Oil production of shallow stripper wells has dramatically decreased as a result of dated production technology and high maintenance costs. Since 1994, Energy, Inc., a small independent oil production company, steadfastly tried to produce oil using standard approaches. High production and maintenance costs in the oil market removed any chance of profitability within the stripper well segment. Accordingly, Energy, Inc. provided the first test sites for development of the Airlift Oil Pumping System. Dr. John Marvel, President of Energy, Inc., believed that if he could pump oil using compressed air, it would dramatically increase profits through the lowering of production maintenance costs. Funded internally and in receipt of a Department of Energy grant of $75,000, Dr. Marvel assembled a team of engineers to develop the Airlift Oil Pumping System. After five years of testing, three generations of product development, product field testing success, patents and patents pending in the U.S., patents with the Gulf Council Consortium (GCC), and additional provisional worldwide patent status, the Airlift Oil Pumping System is moving into commercialization.

The first company to offer every U.S. home and business a way to reduce the environmental impact of regular electricity production, Sterling Planet leads the nation in retail sales of renewable energy kilowatthours. Since 2001, Sterling Planet has sold to homes and businesses nationwide more than 1 billion kilowatthours of renewable energy, representing enough energy to power 95,000 homes for a full year and offset 720,000 tons of CO2. The environmental benefit compares to not driving 1.6 billion miles or taking 126,000 cars off U.S. roads. Sterling Planet is also the nation's leader in partnering with electric utilities and businesses to market renewable energy. Currently, Sterling Planet has 18 utility partners nationwide in Florida, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. Sterling Planet's mission is to harness the power of consumer demand to convert at least 10% of the nation's electricity production to environmentally preferable energy that is renewable, diverse, domestically based and low impact by 2012, while stimulating local economies and creating jobs. Over the past 16 years, our management has developed many types of renewable plants, including biomass, small hydro and solar facilities and in-depth knowledge of the renewable energy business is a major differentiator for us.

With energy prices climbing and supplies less than certain, a growing number of building occupants, owners and designers are seeking high efficiency cooling and heating systems. AEP was formed to commercialize and market proprietary, innovative NVAC equipment for residential and commercial markets. AEP is a spinoff of Davis Energy Group (DEG), a well established, 20 year old energy engineering firm. Over the last five years, DEG has developed three proprietary products now ready for commercialization with completed beta tests and proven results:

  • HyPak - A commercial rooftop unit that cuts cooling energy use by half
  • IDEC - A sophisticated two-stage residential evaporative cooler that cuts cooling energy use 80% to 90%
  • NightBreeze - A residential ventilation cooling system that enhances indoor air quality and can cut peak cooling energy demand upwards of 30%
AEP will market these three products and grow its product line with additional proprietary products now under development. AEP has partnered with DEG for product development and with Des Champs Technologies (DCT) for the manufacture of commercial products. DCT is a well known 30 year old private manufacturer of custom and high-end commercial HVAC equipment. As AEP builds sales volume, AEP and its partners will becoming increasingly attractive buyout targets for major HVAC manufacturers.
