Solar Energy Panels

A collection of photovoltaic cells create a solar panel. The cells themselves don’t collect much energy but when combined can create a powerful source of energy. Solar energy panels must be pointed towards the sun to collect energy.

Solar energy panels have a long lifetime and are very durable. Because of this after initial installation there is relatively no maintenance required. Thicker, rigid traditional solar energy panels are made from silicon, while new thin film technology is flexible and can be rolled up or placed on uneven surfaces.

Solar energy panels can range in size from small and portable to large, permanent structures. Smaller portable panels can be used to power electronic devices like laptops and cell phones. Large panels can be arranged in large groups and can provide power to whole buildings and neighborhoods.
