Solar Lights
Solar lights can add much needed light to dark pathways, or accent gardens at night with no cost to the owner. Some lights are LED, some have backup batteries, and some have larger solar panels than others. What is best will depend on the amount of sunlight the area gets and the desired wattage.
For solar lights to work the best they should be placed in areas where the solar panel can collect ample sun during the day. At night the light should not be placed near ambient light, as it will affect the amount of light that is outputted. If an area only gets partial sun during the day look for lights with chargeable batteries to compensate for lack of sun.
Solar lights can be simple stake garden lights, hanging lanterns, even motion sensor security lights. Garages and porches can be safely lit at night with the use of solar powered security lights. Remember that solar lights will need a few days to charge before they begin to work, so wait a few days before assuming the unit is ineffective.
